What started in 1984 as a recipe for escaping law school, Janice created the first-ever cookies baked from whole fruits and vegetables. She began selling them all over New York City; from banana chocolate chunk and strawberry white chocolate macadamia nut to eggplant fig walnut oat, Hazel's Homegrown Yucky Cookies were born.

While the business eventually crumbled under the weight of too much life going on (kids, bills, and parental reality), the delicious dream never died.

Fast forward forty sweet years. Janice’s loving husband Jeff, barely retired and always an entrepreneur, decided to go for a re-bake! With spatula and original recipes in hand, he fired up the oven and started making the most scrumptiously crunchy chewy fresh-baked yucky cookies in town.

As he likes to say, “Sometimes life throws you eggplants, and sometimes, you turn them into cookies.”

With a hope and hug in his heart, Jeff is determined to put a sweet spot into every yucky day. That’s why he decided to give 10% of profits to people and projects that help the world smile. Whether it’s through our It’s Your Yucky Day contest or a local community cause, Yucky Cookies don’t just taste (really) good — they do a little bit of good too.

So go ahead. Take a bite.

Life’s messy. Cookies help.
